Rules and Regulations

  1. Team Composition:
    1. Each team consists of three players.
    2. Teams may have one substitute player (for a total of four), but substitutions can only be made during dead ball situations or timeouts.
    3. Teams may be comprised of four different divisions:
      • Adult Male Division: Males ages 18 and over may sign up a team in this category
      • Adult Female Division: Females ages 18 and over may sign up a team in this category
      • Teen Male Division: Males ages 14-18 may sign up a team in this category
      • Teen Female Division: Females ages 14-18 may sign up a team in this category

** Note: Teen teams MUST have at least one member of their team who is under the age of 18 if all members of a team are ages 18 and over, the team will need to be in the adult division**

 

  1. Game Duration:
    1. Games are played to a certain point total or time limit.
    2. Games will be played to 21 points (win by 2)
    3. If neither team has scored 21+ points at the end of a 20 minute running clock: The team that is ahead (by 1 or more) at the end of the time limit will be the winner of the game.

 

  1. Scoring:
    1. Regular field goals count as two points, while shots made beyond the three-point line count as three points.

 

  1. Gameplay:
    1. Initial possession of the ball is determined by a coin toss. Possession alternates after each scored basket.
    2. After made baskets or turnovers, the opposing team must clear the ball beyond the three-point line before they can attempt to score.
    3. Alternating possession is used for jump balls.
    4. Each possession has a 35 second shot clock. If the shot clock expires, possession is awarded to the opposing team.

 

  1. Fouls:
    1. Fouls will be determined by the rules provided to each team on the day of the tournament

 

  1. Overtime:
    1. If the score is tied at the end of regulation, there will be a 5 minute overtime period to determine the winner.

 

  1. Sportsmanship and Conduct:
    1. Players are expected to adhere to the principles of good sportsmanship.
    2. Unsportsmanlike conduct, such as arguing with referees or taunting opponents, will result in technical fouls or ejection from the game.

 

  1. Referees:
    1. Referees officiate the game, enforcing the rules and making judgments on fouls and violations.

 

  1. Fees and Prizes:
    1. Adult (18 and over) Team Fees are $50.00 per person with a cash prize for the winners.
    2. Teen (14-18) Team Fees are $25.00 per person with a gift certificate prize for the winners.

 

** All tournament participants will also be able to utilize the hot springs pool on site between games**
